Amaechi Stole N3 Trillion from Rivers State Fund

The Rivers state government has raised serious allegation against the former governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi that he squandered N3 trillion during his tenure as governor.

Amaechi served as governor of the state between 2007 and 2015 before he was appointed minister of transportation by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Daily Trust reports that Dr. Tam-George who is the commissioner of information said Amaechi left the Amaechi left the ‘most abandoned projects in the history of the State’. The commissioner remarked that Amaechi’s administration borrowed N4 billion agricultural loan from the Central Bank with no record of farmer-beneficiaries.

He said Governor Nyesom Wike’s got N2 billion loan from the same source and had recorded 35,000 beneficiaries that were small and medium scale entrepreneurs. The All Progressives Congress however said it was impossible for the former governor to have wasted so much money under that circumstance.

Mr Chris Finebone who is the publicity secretary of the APC in Rivers dismissed the allegation and accused the commissioner of of putting out imaginary numbers. Finebone said: “For once, you guys should ask the Commissioner what was used for those uncompleted projects he claimed was abandoned.

It is important he cross-check his records so that he can overcome his little dream world of make-belief.” Meanwhile, Soji Adagunodo, the factional chairman of the Osun state chapter of the
PDP said that the agenda of President Buhari’s anti-corruption war is to suppress the opposition.

According to The Punch, the Osun state PDP chairman said the anti-graft war which had been marred by gross impunity and selectivity is boosting the chances of the APC ahead of the 2019 general election.
