FG confuse on it educational policies,says UNILAG ASSU chairman

The Chairman Academic Staff Union of universities (ASSU) University of lagos branch DR Adelaja Odunkoya has disclosed that the federal government is confuse on how to implement it policies to move the education sector forward.

Odunkoya revealed this in an interview with DailyTimes,noting that recent decisions to cancel post-UTME, unilateral sacking of Vice-chancellors and board shows the sack of university the confuse state of the government.
The political science lecturer bemoaned recent poor budgetary allocation and funding to education sector adding that the present administration was out of touch with events in the sector.

He said"There is nothing to be proud of there is monumental confusion, indegested ideas and arbitraryness in the sector. What is happening now is that the sector is in a state of decade and they should sit up".

"The Nigerian government  have forgotten the role of education in national development despite the promise of change we have not seen the role of government to that interm of funding it is going down"

"The need asssement report  have not been implemented , lectures have not been paid their allowances,look at the budgetary allocation to education is lower than it use to be, the Post -JAMB that use to be use to separate substandard candidates have been cancelled,the removal of VC's and councils of OAU and university port harcourt".

He criticised the decision of the federal government to regulate admission of tertiary institutions in the country through the Joint admission and matriculation Board (JAMB) adding that universities should be autonomous in admission and other matters.
